Session Four: Echoes of Betrayal

  • by

With the memory of Chief Sull’s charge still fresh, the party pressed into the darkness to confront the traitor mongrelmen. Their approach was swift and decisive, cutting down the guards posted at the enclave’s entrance. But not before the alarm was raised. As the echoes of combat faded, they knew stealth was no longer an option.

Within the next chamber, two more mongrelmen stood ready, accompanied by a hulking cave lizard. Though the creature’s maw was deadly, the party overcame them, pushing deeper into the enemy stronghold. The room served as a grim foyer, with paths branching north and south, and a pantry that reeked of rot. Inside, they found slabs of preserved dire rat meat… and something far more horrifying: dried mongrelman flesh, confirming the depravity of the traitors.

To the north, their path led to a pair of human cultists clad in the iconography of Baphomet. Blades and spells clashed, and the party emerged bloodied but victorious. Retracing their steps and heading south, they met the enclave’s full fury. A brutal battle erupted against a wave of mongrelmen defenders. The traitors fought with savage desperation, and one by one the heroes began to fall—until only a tenuous thread of hope remained.

That hope took form in Anevia Tirabade. Injured though she was, she charged into the fray to stand by the party. Her intervention tipped the balance. With renewed strength, the tide turned, and the last of the traitors fell. Victory had come, but at a high cost—bloodied, shaken, and barely standing, the party stood victorious not through might alone, but through the bonds they had forged in the dark.
